Linda Cooper has been selected as the Employee of the Month for September 2014. She will receive a $50.00 gift card to the retail store or restaurant of her choice, and will be recognized by President & CEO Brad Tidwell on the next all-employee conference call. Linda was nominated by one of her peers for her dependability, positive attitude and mentorship to her employees. Linda is the Teller Operations Manager and supports all 25 branch locations. “I started in kindergarten”, joked Sue Plummer, when asked when she started working at Citizens National Bank in Henderson. Forty years is a long time, but Sue is still going strong and has no plans of retirement any time soon.
Citizens National Bank will honor her with a 40 Year Anniversary Reception on Wed., August 6th, beginning at 2 p.m. in the Downtown Lobby, 201 W. Main Street. All of her friends and family are invited to attend and congratulate her on this great accomplishment! Congratulations Sue!
Marcella Lawless is retiring today after 37 years in banking, 18 of which were spent at Citizens National Bank. A retirement reception was held in her honor today, Thursday, July 31st, at the Waskom Branch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Congratulations on such a lengthy banking career and best wishes on a very happy retirement Marcella! You will be missed!

Earlier this week in Austin, Keep Henderson Beautiful officially received the 2014 Texas Governor’s Community Achievement Award for its work in enhancing the natural resources of Texas. Along with this recognition comes a $160,000 grant to be used for beautification efforts within the City of Henderson, with guidance from the Texas Department of Transportation. A plaque and replica of the grant check will be on display in the downtown Henderson Main Lobby of Citizens National Bank for the next month, then will travel to another location within the city.

The downtown Longview Convenience Center received the Beautification Award from Keep Longview Beautiful this morning. They give this award each quarter to a business that is nominated and voted on by their Board of Directors. The award will be kept on display for one year at the Convenience Center to show that the branch is committed to keeping Longview beautiful. Rusk County Black History Association presented Linda Cooper, an employee of Citizens National Bank of Henderson, with the Humanitarian Award at the county’s Black History Gala on February 2nd. Linda was recognized for her commitment to Rusk County and as a trailblazer in Rusk County history.
Linda graduated from Navarro Jr. College and began her banking career in 1976 being hired as the first black employee in banking (First National Bank) in Rusk County. She started at the bottom working her way through nearly every department, taking several banking classes along the way, and is now Vice-President of Citizens National Bank in charge of the teller staff at 25 branches.
Linda spends countless hours giving back to her community by either volunteering her time, serving as a mentor or serving on one of many boards such as the Henderson Lionnettes Booster Club, the Rusk County Child Advocacy Center or a host of others.
Linda has been recognized for her efforts in the Rusk County community as well as within the banking industry. She was recently recognized at the Martin Luther King Program for her accomplishments in business and was also recognized by the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) and presented with the IBAT Award for Leadership.
Linda is married, has two sons and 7 grandchildren.
