Jake Griggs, Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager at Corsiciana’s College Park Branch, will be featured in the second edition of Go Texan magazine, which is published in partnership with the Texas Department of Agriculture. Jake is recipient of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Young Farmer Grant program for young farmers who are starting or expanding agricultural businesses in Texas. Both branches in Corsicana worked together to cook 450 hamburgers on the CNB barbeque trailer for the students and staff at the Collins Middle School Fun Day this past Friday, May 23rd.

Today is Louis Vasquez Day in Corsicana, where the Denver Broncos offensive lineman starter grew up and graduated in 2005. The town is buzzing in orange and navy to support their hometown son. Played four seasons at Texas Tech University, helping the Red Raiders rank second in the nation in total offense (529.6 ypg) and scoring (40.0 ppg) during his junior campaign in 2007.
He was selected by the Chargers in the third round (78th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He helped the Chargers offense rank fourth in the NFL in points per game (25.8) during his four seasons with the franchise. He finished as one of only three 16-game starting offensive guards in 2012 to not be called for a penalty. Named to the PFW/PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2009 after opening 14 games for San Diego and helping the Chargers win their fourth consecutive AFC West Division title. Vasquez is a fifth-year offensive guard who started all 70 regular-season games played during his career, allowing only 11 sacks and committing just three penalties on offense according to Stats Inc. He was selected to his first career Pro Bowl and All-Pro (first team) after allowing zero sacks in his first season with the Broncos in 2013. Vazquez joined the Broncos as an unrestricted free agent on March 12, 2013.

Larry Turner (right), Trust Officer at Citizens National Bank in downtown Corsicana, stands beside fellow Rotarian and State Representative, Byron Cook, at the Corsicana Rotary Club Chilifest event at the Cook Center on Tuesday election day serving real home-made Texas Chili. Larry served as the chief cook. The event was a very successful fundraiser for the Rotary Club. They cooked and served 240 pounds of chili. Larry said, “There may have been some flushed faces and tearing, but no one had to be transported by EMS.”
